The wood duck is found throughout Florida - in and around wooded swamps, rivers, lakes, and ponds. It is considered by some people to be the most beautiful duck in North America.

In the early 1900s, the wood duck was close to extinction, but has since become one of the greatest wildlife management success stories. Today, the wood duck is one of the most common nesting waterfowl (swimming birds like ducks and geese) in the eastern flyway.
