The Eastern box turtle is found throughout Florida in moist woods and meadows. This turtle stays on land, but may play in mud or very shallow water. If conditions stay the same, an Eastern box turtle will spend its whole life in an area the size of a football field.

The biggest threats to these turtles are automobiles that hit them, and people who capture them to be sold as pets.
