Introduction
Records help you keep track of vital information that can later help you make the best decisions regarding your animals. Good records help you stay aware of changes in your rabbit(s) over time. You can monitor several factors, such as:

  • health
  • growth
  • individual identification
  • breeding

The particular records that you include in your project depend on the type of project that you are interested in pursuing. Some projects will put emphasis on breeding, others on the standard of perfection of your rabbit and other still on the feed conversion, or gain.

Solve this Situation

Scenario
Jamie and Alexis plan to sell their rabbits to a local pet shop. Having sold rabbits in the show circuit before, they did not research or prepare at all before entering the store. They spoke to the general manager, Mr. Martin, and proposed to sell him rabbits. The manager seemed interested, but asked for more information:

  • How much will the rabbits cost?
  • Can you bring me at least 10 rabbits a month?
  • Do your rabbits have a health certificate?
  • Have you purchased a vendors permit?

Jamie and Alexis were not prepared to answer all of those questions! They said they would have to get back to him. They needed time to research and would be able to give him well informed answers by the end of the week.
