Introduction
Grooming a rabbit serves many purposes beyond simply making the rabbit look nice. Grooming the rabbit increases the animals level of comfort, reduces stress, and increases their overall health. When grooming your rabbit, you will be able to detect if there are any problems. Therefore, the more frequently you groom, the better you will know your rabbits and be able to assess their health.

The more a rabbit molts the more that rabbit will need to be groomed. Grooming the fur is essential for fur and fiber production enterprises as this determines the quality and price of the product.

Although rabbits very efficiently use their rough tongues to clean themselves, very wooly breeds, such as Angoras, will have an increase increased fur clots if not brushed often.

Solve this Situation

Scenario
Every summer Shantil goes to her cousins’ house to visit. She leaves SugarPuff at home with her mom, who feeds, grooms and cleans up after her. This summer Shantil’s cousins came to visit her and stayed for almost 3 months. Shantil was so busy spending time with them that she forgot to groom SugarPuff.

After they left, and it was time to collect wool again, she couldn't. SugarPuff’s wool was so matted that is was impossible for her to comb or pluck her wool. SugarPuff was even having trouble moving around. Shantil had to shear SugarPuff just to relieve her rabbit of her discomfort. The wool that she collected was of the lowest quality,
since it was soiled and matted. Shantil had always been able to sell hand-plucked wool of very high quality. Now, she has to wait another 3 months before she can collect wool again, but she has customers waiting on their orders. What a disaster!
