Introduction
Proper feeds and feeding methods are important in order to raise healthy rabbits. When first acquiring your rabbit(s) you should use the same type of feed that the rabbits are accustomed to. Feed should be changed gradually. Sudden changes make rabbits sick and may kill them. The best way to change feed is to give a small amount of new feed half an hour after their regular ration. Gradually increase the amount, watching for problems such as soft droppings or bloating. If no trouble appears with in 2 or 3 weeks, use the new feed for the entire ration.

Commercial rabbit feed is generally the best and most practical type of feed. It is specifically balanced to contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals in order to ensure the proper development of your rabbit(s). It is also a lot more shelf stable than green feeds, and its quality is constant. Continue reading through this lesson to find out more about proper rabbit nutrition.
