4-H University

Florida 4-H University is a week-long overnight event for senior 4-H youth (4-H age 14-18) held at the University of Florida. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in educational workshops lead by University of Florida faculty, explore career opportunities, lead community service activities, interact with youth from all over the state, and have fun while developing critical life skills that will help them become productive and engaged citizens of the communities, their country, and their world.

  • What are Competitive Events?

    Competitive Events are presentations consisting of Demonstrations, Illustrated Talks, or Public Speaking contests.  These contests occur at the county, district, state, and regional or national levels. Most competitions require some qualifying level of participation. This progression may be county to district to state OR county to state OR district to state.  Members present at the County and District levels and advance to the state contest based on district contest scores. 

  • What is Share-the-Fun?

    The 4-H Share-the-Fun Program is designed to help 4-H’ers discover, develop, and share their talents with others. The objective of the Share-the-Fun Program is to enhance the following areas: appreciation of talent, leadership, confidence, interest in special training, and the ability to discover opportunities for wholesome recreation. Youth compete in their counties and district contests.  The first place senior winner advances to the state contest.   • What are Senior Awards and Recognition?

    This is a time where we honor our graduating seniors, announce scholarship and award trip winners, show our senior videos, recognize our Leader of the Legacy, and induct our incoming state officer team.  This is a special event celebrating some of our outstanding 4-H members from the past year.

    $75 per person for Guests. Children under 5 are free.

  • What is the Champions Breakfast?

    The Champions Breakfast recognizes state competitive events participants, Community Pride Winners, and features the Parade of Champions, consisting of all first place individuals and teams from state level events during the membership year.  There is no fee for competitors being recognized.  Guests are $25 per person, Children under 5 are free and must be registered.

  • What types of workshops are offered at 4-H University?

    There are a variety of workshops at 4-H university ranging from animal science, to environmental science, to food preparation, and citizenship and leadership.  The workshops are 3 hours and are presented by University of Florida Faculty and Staff. 

    Attendees have the opportunity to explore career opportunities, lead community service activities, interact with youth from all over the state, and have fun while developing critical life skills that will help them become productive and engaged citizens in their communities, their country, and their world!  We have the following goals for our 4-H University Workshops:

    • "Learning by Doing" with hands on activities for our teens
    • Promotes learning through exploration and research, highlighting research and programs at the University of Florida
    • Helps youth identify a potential career path for their future

  • Your 4-H University Youth-Adult Planning Committee

    The 4-H University planning committee is comprised of a youth chair appointed from the State Council officer team, youth members from across the state of Florida, and adult advisors. The committee is part of the Florida 4-H Executive Board that meets throughout the year to plan and support statewide programs. Below are the members of this year’s committee:
