    • Meeting with Your Legislators

Go to the Connecting with your Legislators page on this site to find out more on the importance of scheduling these meetings, how you can contact your legislators, and how you can prepare for your meetings with them.

To be respectful of the time that our legislators have to give, participants should only be meeting with legislators as part of their county delegation. Make sure to only have one point of contact scheduling meetings from your county delegation to keep clear and consistent communication.

Please also make sure that you note that you are specifically scheduling for "______ County 4-H". This helps legislative aides keep track of all our delegations who want to meet with legislators and elected officials.

    • Legislators in Action at Committee Meetings

In between your legislator meetings and other activities, a great opportunity to see your legislators in action is during committee meetings. This is where they discuss items regarding specific topics and work through them before they reach the floor. You can find all information on all committees at the following links, Senate Committees (flsenate.gov) | House Committees (myfloridahouse.gov).

While you are able to attend any of these, below the committees that particularly work on items related to 4-H.

    • Chamber Tours & the 22nd Floor Capitol Observatory

4-H has Senate Chamber tours available from 10:00AM-12:00PM. These will run every 20min. Please do not call to schedule additional tours. This is the time that 4-H has coordinated with the Senate office.

The House Chamber does not currently have time available for tours.

Delegations are welcome to view both chambers at any time from the galleries accessed on the 5th floor.

You can also build in time your schedule to visit the 22nd Floor Capitol Observatory and Gallery to enjoy panoramic views of Tallahassee.

    • FAMU Tour

We will gather at 10:30AM in the Capitol courtyard at the FAMU table. We will arrive back at the Capitol courtyard by 12:00PM.

We can accommodate 25 people. Spots will be given on a first come, first serve basis.

This is a great opportunity to experience Florida's 1890 Land-Grant University. This tour will offer a better understanding of campus life. You will be shown places of interest while receiving insightful information about the student experience at FAMU. During your guided tour, you will observe the bustling activity of campus, from students chatting on the "Set", studying in the Quadrangle, or grabbing a bit at the "Orange Room".

Check out the Florida Capitol Visitors website to find out how you can schedule guided tours or take on a self guided tour.

    • Exploring the Historic Capitol Museum

The Florida Historic Capitol Museum is right next to the Capitol Courtyard and a great option for your county delegation to explore.

To help manage the number of participants in the museum at one time, we will have signup sheet for 30 participants to enter the museum every 30min. If the museum is at capacity, you and your delegation will need to signup to come back at a different time.

    • Local Attractions

Beyond the Capitol, there are other great attractions that you can consider while in Tallahassee for Florida 4-H Day at the Capitol.
