Shooting Sports

Shooting Sports includes Air Rifle, Small Bore Rifle, Archery, Shotgun, Muzzleloader and Hunting disciplines. At the state level both archery competition and camps are available to participate in this activity. There are a number of state level matches that are open to 4-H participants who are in a county shooting sports club/program led by a discipline Certified 4-H Shooting Sports Leader/Volunteer. Contact your local county office for more information on how to become involved in Shooting Sports. 

Upcoming Training 

Level 1 shooting sports certifications are available throughout the state of Florida each year. Florida 4-H provides these state level trainings utilizing the current Level 2 shooting sports instructors in the state. 4-H volunteers and staff that will be leading any shooting sports club or activities are required to go through this Level 1 certification course in the respective shooting sports discipline PRIOR to leading any meeting or activity. All training attendees must be an Approved Level 2 Volunteer prior to registering for a training event in 4-H Online. Level 1 instructors must be 21 years of age; youth aged 14-20 may participate in this training as a Junior Instructor. This Level 1 certification is valid for 3 years, after which the instructor must receive recertification.

To register for any shooting sports training event, login to 4-H Online and click on Events. Those open and available shooting sports trainings will show as an option to register for. If you have any questions or issues with registering for a shooting sports training event, please contact Erin Mugge at erin.mugge@ufl.edu.
