YOUTH VOICES – FLORIDA 4-H YOUTH COUNCILS
The ideas, opinions, attitudes, knowledge, and actions of 4-H youth are critical to the success of the Florida 4-H program. To ensure that youth voice is promoted in governance and program planning, Florida 4-H utilizes a council system that operates on three (3) levels: County, District, and State.
Each council is comprised of elected youth officers, youth representatives, and caring adult advisors. 4-H members can also utilize their voices by attending local club meetings and being elected to be in officer in their local club.
The Florida 4-H Council utilizes youth-adult partnerships to help guide and implement statewide efforts. To accomplish this, there are two different bodies of youth and adult participants that focus on (1) governing and (2) programming. The governing body is referred to as State Council and the programming body is referred to as Executive Board.
