School enrichment curriculum resources are an important part of the 4-H program in Florida. To learn more about 4-H In the Classroom, contact your county’s 4-H professional.

The resources provided on this page are to support and guide educators in the implementation of the Florida 4-H Public Speaking program (FL 4-H PSP). Counties may have certain adaptations based on local needs, so be sure to check with your county’s 4-H professional to learn about your county’s guidelines.

Statewide Sponsorship

The Florida 4-H Public Speaking Program is funded in partnership with the Florida 4-H Foundation and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL).

FPL is the title sponsor for the program providing funding for awards and marketing assets and should be recognized as such in promotional materials. Program logos including FPL are provided for use and should not be altered nor distorted.

Local FPL representatives may be available to support your programming by participating as a judge or guest speaker at your competitions. Reach out to FL 4-H State HQ if you need assistance in connecting with your local FPL representatives.

      • This curriculum guide provides step-by-step suggestions for teachers to implement the week-long program in their class.
    • Parent/Guardian Letter (PDF)
      • This letter is intended to be sent home before the start of the program to inform families of their student’s participation.
    • Great Speech Tips (PDF)
      • “Great Speech Tips” is intended to be sent home with youth and used in the classroom to help them prepare their speeches.
    • Constructive Critique Sheet (PDF)
      • This can be used in the classroom to help you prepare your students for the contest.
      • Students can also utilize this to provide structured feedback to their peers.
    • Judging Sheet (PDF)
      • “Judging Sheet” is intended to be used by judges to score and provide feedback to students on their speech.
      • It is suggested to send this to judges beforehand to help them prepare for their role.
      • This can also be sent home with students and used in the classroom to help them recognize what they are being evaluated on.
    • Judging Comment Tips (PDF)
      • This can be provided to judges to help orient them to potential ways of providing positive and constructive feedback.
      • This is specifically focused on judging public speaking.
    • Constructive Comment Tips (PDF)
      • This can be provided to judges to help orient them to potential ways of providing positive and constructive feedback.
      • This is a generalized document that can be used for judging any competition.
    • Certificate of Recognition (Canva Template | Fillable PDF)
      • These can be utilized at the discretion of the 4-H and classroom coordinators to recognize everyone’s achievement.
    • PowerPoint Template (PPT Template)
      • This resource can be utilized as you put together information to help teach your students public speaking and the contests. 

    Evaluation

    Teacher, Parent, and Youth evaluation tools are utilized through the Florida 4-H Public Speaking Program to ensure its continued success.

    You may be asked by your county 4-H professional to help ensure that these evaluations are filled out by you, your youth, and families.
